Dear Parents,
With regard to spelling homework, after much consideration and reflection, spelling homework will no longer be required to be turned in each week. Spelling practice may be completed at home on an as needed basis for your child. Each child has individual spelling skills and may need different amounts of practice depending on the particular skill that we are learning.
If your child needs practice on a particular skill, have them practice a bit each night. This may include playing spellingcity.com (with parent supervision.) Another fun way for students to practice Spelling is on a white board.
Here are some other ideas:
Draw a creative picture and hide your spelling words in it.
Write your words in different fonts/colors.
Write your words in a meaningful story.
Write your words in ABC order.
Write a letter using all of your words.
Cut your words out of magazines and make a collage.
If your child repeatedly struggles with passing spelling tests, then we can determine a homework plan if needed. Otherwise, I will leave it to your good judgment and discretion.
